Polyurethane Manufacturer’s Association Annual Meeting

When: May 10-13
Where: Phoenix, AZ

Garrett Dietz (CEO) delivered the Keynote Address on GEN3’s unique Voice of the Product perspective. While Voice of the Consumer (VOC) is a common approach used by most companies today, there is another critical perspective that is underleveraged in developing both new product and category innovations. This concept – what we refer to as Voice of the Product (VOP) – provides a complementary and powerful capability to drive true innovations in our increasingly complex markets today. Voice of the Product captures technological and functional opportunities that VOC misses, much as Steve Jobs spoke about the customer not knowing what emerging technologies and technologies from unrelated fields could offer in terms of innovation opportunities.

This cross-pollination of leading technological innovations can be a critical way to find and exploit under-served market segments with real business challenges.

Rutgers University’s Center for Innovative Ventures of Emerging Technologies

This concept – what we refer to as Voice of the Product (VOP) – provides a complementary and powerful capability to drive true innovations in our increasingly complex markets today. Voice of the Product captures technological and functional opportunities that VOC misses, much as Steve Jobs spoke about the customer not knowing what emerging technologies and technologies from unrelated fields could offer in terms of innovation opportunities.
